TTLSA has been restructured for the summer of 2003 to provide an alternative to a two-week, in-depth, campus-based academy. TTLSA will consist of 45 hours of professional development in school leadership.  These academies will consist of an introductory two-day Leadership Institute at the host school district site, with on-going distance learning follow-up sessions throughout the school year and an additional two-day Leadership Institute in the spring or summer of 2004 at the host school site.  Leadership development sessions during the school year will consist of face-to-face discussions, DDN-based video discussions, web-based discussions, or a combination.  These sessions will be designed to meet the needs and interests of regional participants and will be directly related to issues and concerns of practicing school leaders at the building and district levels.

  • to initiate and support high quality professional development processes that reflect attention to principles of adult learning.
  • to lead and manage systemic change processes at the classroom, school and/or district levels.
  •  to maintain a solid knowledge of the applications of technology intended to enhance student achievement. 

The focus of the newly designed TTLSA will be on effective school leadership.  Among the institute topics to achieve the stated outcomes will be

  • effective professional development programs for school change
  •  responding to the new ESEA--No Child Left Behind
  • Data-Driven decision making
  • standards for teachers, National Board Certification
  • understanding the systemic change process
  • supporting teachers in the integration of technology into curriculum and instruction
  • evaluating effective use of technology in classrooms

Up to three hours of graduate credit at a reduced tuition fee are available to TTLSA participants. In addition, each participant will receive a free palm pilot and training on how to use it on the job.

Administrators who have previously participated in TTLSA are welcome to enroll again in this new, restructured academy.
